Down South Car Repairs has been part of the Lonsdale community since 2000, originally founded by Patrick McFadden and built on a reputation for honest advice and quality workmanship. In 2002, Alex Perkins joined as a first-year apprentice, finishing school on a Thursday and starting work the very next day, reflecting his strong work ethic and lifelong passion for cars. Nearly two decades later, in October 2021, Alex and his wife Falon purchased the business, continuing its proud legacy while modernising the brand, expanding the team and broadening the services on offer. Today, Down South Car Repairs is a truly family-run workshop, with Alex on the tools leading the mechanical team, Falon managing operations and customer care, and a growing crew that includes three qualified technicians and apprentices, including a female first-year apprentice. The team is proud to be approachable and inclusive, standing by values of clear communication, reliability and consistent results. With experience covering everything from everyday car servicing through to restorations and performance work, Alex’s enthusiasm extends beyond the workshop, as he is a motorsport competitor and enthusiast with a 35 GTR and Formula 3 car. You’ll often see the team supporting local motorsport events at Mallala, The Bend and the Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
